Week 8 – April 10th

Thanks everyone for making this program so amazing! I hope that everyone is getting something great to take home in the way of books… , information, and connections.

Special thanks to Mandy Lloyd for great ideas, Vivian Chappell for her energy in leading the elementary school kids, Michelle Williams for  teaching us sign, smiling all the way through,

and Becky Crawford for ANOTHER wonderful set of nutrition opportunities, and Willie Jean Kimball at the desk and wherever else she is needed!  We all appreciate the dedication and many hours of work you have all put in.

The high school group tried out etching on a and on copper.  We played with SMA’s or Shape Memory Alloys

The youngest scientists explored Oviparous animals! We read the book “Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones” and looked inside some eggs to see what hatches. We found birds, butterflies, frogs, snakes, turtles, and so much more.  We tried to see if we could crush an egg, then looked at how to make an egg float in water.  We also had a relay race and found some eggs with treats.

Here are some more resources:

Mrs. Crawford helped us made some ranch dressing to dip vegetables in – delicious and nutritious!

The storytime kids also read the book “Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones” and looked inside some eggs to see what hatches. We found birds, butterflies, frogs, snakes, turtles, and so much more.
